Mommas Baby is a baby boutique providing naturally pure and organic products and gifts for both momma and baby. Our story of how we started:
Our store opened shortly after my first little one was born. He was the inspiration for my business. I started to read about the importance of cloth diapers for the health of our baby and immediately changed from disposbale diapers to cloth. I actually intended to use cloth from the beginning, but was never informed correctly about the advantadges over disposables. In addition, I thought pins and prefolds were the only diapers available. I later fround out I was really wrong! Cloth diapering was the best decision I could have made. He was much happier, there was less diaper rash and less potential for any health problems related to the use of disposable diapers. 
I started to add various natural products to the store in addition to the cloth diapers.I did a great deal of research and tried and tested products that I thought would be beneficial for other moms and used them on our own little ones.I also wanted to provide a place for new moms to gain a great deal of information on natural products, breastfeeding & cloth diapering. Since that time, I've spoken to moms all across the world, made some wonderful friends in the process and have been able to impart some of the information I have learned. Teaching is a passion for me. In the past I taught elementary school and also had the opportunity to teach the Hopi and Navajo Indians in Keams Canyon Arizona. Weekends I spent in the village of Walpi high on top of a mesa. It was such a wonderful and rewarding experience. I also worked as a naturalist at a local conservancy. Since opening in 2000 we have grown into a larger natural baby boutique offering more and more products that are sustainable and healthy for your baby. We are also offering our own line of products to the market.   
Our name:
My son, Nathanael was the inspiration behind the name "Mommas Baby". He is the one that was pictured in the first original mommas Baby logo. When he was a baby he was often referred to as a "mommas baby".  To me, it is only natural for your baby to be a "mommas baby". A mommas baby is one that is loved and nurtured and can't resist being without momma. As a family, we also practice what is called Attachment Parenting. Attachment parenting is a style of parenting that nurtures a baby. Baby wearing, co-sleeping, breastfeeding, cloth diapering are all wonderful ways to nurture your little one. A family run business:
My four children, Nathanael age 7, Rebekah age 5, Rachel age 2 and our new little blessing, Jacob born 02/24/07 are such a blessing to me and I count it a priviledge to be able to be a stay at home/work at home mom. My little ones help with the business even at an early age. You might even hear one of them answer the phone on occasion (we homeschool as well). In addition, they help with the packages. It's a wonderful way to teach them about the value of work and running a business from the time they are little. My husband also does some of our computer related work and accounting.
