The three most offensive nail color ingredients are phthalates, solvents and formaldehyde. Most brands on nail polish also contain questionable dyes, synthetic preservatives and fragrances.

For a polish remover, use an organic polish remover that contains acetate solvents,
non-toxic, and non-carcinogenic ingredients. It should not incorporate either phthalates, phthalic anhydride, or
petroleum ingredients.
Some Doctors caution the use of traditional nail polish and nail polish remover, while pregnant or nursing. Make sure to check nail polish labels for the worst offending
chemicals.
